Volunteering for the good of citizens, cantons and Confederation
REDOG is a volunteer organisation and a partner of the Confederation and cantons for crises and disasters in Switzerland and abroad. REDOG cooperates closely with all emergency services during missing persons searches.
The REDOG search and rescue dog teams are on standby around the clock. REDOG, the Swiss search and rescue dog association, is a Swiss organisation that provides comprehensive training for search and rescue teams comprising dogs and humans that search for missing persons and disaster victims. A dog’s nose is the most reliable detector of human scent that is hidden beneath rubble or in unclear terrain and in the forest.
The association has existed since 1971 as a section of the Swiss Cynological Society (SKG). Today REDOG has approximately 750 volunteers and roughly 600 dogs in Switzerland. Members and their dogs are trained in 12 regional groups. Experiences dog handlers who are ready for deployment teach at our training sessions.
